A weighbridge, or truck scale, is a large-scale platform used to measure the gross and tare weights of entire road vehicles and rail cars, which is critical for trade, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with legal weight limits. The integrity of these large-volume transactions depends entirely on the accuracy of the underlying weighing system. This accuracy is achieved by placing the massive steel or concrete deck onto multiple, high-capacity compression load cells (or sometimes double shear beam cells). These cells are mounted into specific foundation pits or frame assemblies and are designed to handle extreme static and dynamic loads. The load cells convert the vehicle’s weight into electrical signals, which are then summed, processed, and displayed by a robust weight indicator. Proper installation, which includes robust mounting assemblies, anti-surge protection, and self-aligning features, ensures that even with off-center loading, the weighbridge provides a legally compliant and highly reliable weight measurement.
